My So Called Life

Yes, I used the title of the television show from the 90s.  It is a show of my generation after all and who did not watch it from my generation?  Well who of the alternative style kids did not watch it?  Alternative, now there is a phrase that meant something completely different when I was growing up, just like punk rock, hardcore and a million other things.  It is funny how life changes.  How the vernacular changes as time goes on. 

So let's get to my life so far.  What have I been doing since I last posted?

I've passed my Level 1 Belt test for Krav Maga.  I was even one of I believe ten people singled out for doing an exceptional job.  That surprised me when the Instructor called my name.  I was trying my damnedest to be aggressive and go, go, go.  I guess I succeeded. 

I still work for the same company, doing the same thing, fire alarm inspections.  It's a job and it pays my bills, I can't really ask for more than that.

I do have plans for my future though.  I want to open a store devoted to the nerd/geek/gamer/horror fandom.  Maybe have a coffee bar in it also.  It would be something I love and I would get to be my own boss.  How awesome would that be?

This here blog post is going to be short and sweet though.  I do think I am going to start doing one once a week on a topic.  Just a random topic that I choose.  It could be politics, movies, music, games, books, food.  Just something that has caught my attention and I feel like talking about.

Why do you oppose the raising of the Debt Ceiling?

Well, according to Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee it is because we are a bunch of racist honky crackers.  Well she did not say honky crackers, but I am sure she was thinking it.  This woman actually had the audacity to say that Republicans are keeping the President and the Democrats from raising the debt ceiling because he is a black man.

So let me get this straight.  Those Republicans in the House and Senate who are listening to the people they represent, are racist because they want to stop the run away spending that this government under Barack Obama and the rest of his progressive comrades are perpetrating?
 
Right.  I guess being a white, conservative leaning American who happens to live in Texas, I just can't understand why it is a good idea.  I must be a racist.  All those Republicans must be racists also.  What other reason would they oppose him? 
 
I am unfortunate enough to happen to live in Sheila Jackson Lee's district.  I did vote against her in the last election but unfortunately there are way to many welfare queens and lazy pieces of human filth who just love getting that government check in her district.  It would be nice if this waste of space was voted out of her office and made to work for a living.  I just don't see it happening any time soon. 
 
It is hilarious that liberals always pull the race card when they have nothing else to say.  They have no solid ground to stand on so those opposing them must be racists.  Facts?  Who needs facts.  You are a racist.  You are white?  Racist.  You don't like the welfare state and think people should actually work for what they are paid?  Racist. 
 
I tire of it.  There really is no point in arguing with a liberal sometimes.  Once they start calling you a racist, it is best to just walk away and ignore them.
 
Michael Berry did bring up a good point on his radio show today.  Where are all the black leaders standing up against those such as Sheila Jackson Lee, Quannel X, Jesse Jackson and the other poverty pimps and race baiters?  Why do they let these despicable examples of human beings represent them?
 
Of course this is all just my opinion, even though you all know that I am right. 

Random Thoughts, Ideas and Plans for the Future

If you are scared to drive when it rains, please do everyone a favor and stay home.  All you do when you get on the road and do thirty miles per hour below the speed limit is create a dangerous situation and keep your fellow drivers from reaching their destination on time.  So please, stay home.

If you receive government help and do nothing but sit on your ass all day and watch television you should not be able to vote.  Of course this would put the party of the people(Democrats) out of power.  Since they are the ones who love to fund these government hand out programs for all you poor, downtrodden, ignorant pieces of human filth.  Also, please clean your apartments.  When people doing inspections have to enter them, it would be very nice if we did not have to dodge piles of trash and hold our breath because the stench is so horrible.

I should be able to use a Taser on anyone I see who has pants that hang below their ass.  Then follow it up with a kick to the testicles to get the point across.

I want a Harley so I can play Road Rash with guys on crotch rockets.  They won't know we are playing until I bash them with a chain or pipe.

I need to buy an optics set up for my AR-15.

I'm going this Tuesday to the Krav Maga school to figure out what I want to enroll for.  I am hoping that my raise is on this weeks paycheck so that I can pay for it. 

If everything goes as planned by this time next year I will be a transformed person with almost zero debt. 

I am a bit bored right now with life.  I would hope for something interesting to happen but I don't really wish to curse myself in such a way.  Life will get plenty interesting when I start Krav Maga.  I'm ready for the pain, I can't wait.

There are many Paths yet to take.  I plan on taking most of them...

What are you doing Saturday?

Now I don't want to mislead anyone.  I am not a Christian.  I do not believe in The Rapture or anything else tied in with the Christian idea of the Apocalypse.  I have no problems with people of the Christian faith, they for the most part of wonderful people.  This is just my humble opinion on this matter of the coming Rapture.

It seems that this Saturday, May 21, 2011 is the day that the Rapture happens and all good Christians are taken up to Heaven while the rest of us heathens get to suffer here on Earth.  The Rapture you say?  Yes my friend, The Rapture.  That time when God will gather up all his Sheep into his bosom and the Anti-Christ will take over the earth and there will be great Tribulations for all us non-believers to live through until the Last Day when God will end it all and the Beast will be thrown back into the Pit for all eternity. 

The person making this claim is one Harold Camping and Family Radio.  These people also believe that the world was created thirteen thousand odd years ago.  Ignore the fact that the Bible teaches that God will not reveal the exact day of His Judgement but that you will know it by the signs.

Now the Bible does not mention the word Rapture but there are passages that describe such an event.  These passages are from the King James Version of the Bible.

So if you are a believer in Christianity, the Rapture is something that is supposed to happen one day.  Just not this Saturday. 

It really saddens me that people believe this is going to happen.  People's lives are going to be changed when the day comes and nothing happens.  How many poor dogs, cats and other pets are going to be put down because some idiot believes that the Rapture is this Saturday and does not want their pet to suffer?

Of course there is that part of me that hopes when the Rapture does not happen a large percentage of the idiots off themselves.  Of course they are probably to cowardly to do so.

I am curious as to what excuse will be given when the time comes and goes and nothing happens.  I am hoping they get creative with it but I'm not holding my breath.

Books, Movies and the Foo Fighters

Let's start with books.  I just finished The Hot Gate by John Ringo.  Book three in the Troy Rising series.  As usual I finished the book in one setting.  The author claimed that people would be upset as they were with one of the Prince Roger books because he kills off a couple of characters.  I was not upset but I guess I can see why someone would be.  With Mr. Ringo, you learn to expect someone you have grown to care about die.  If you have not read the other two books in the series, Live Free or Die and Citadel, go out and buy all three.  There are two more books in the plans, let us hope they are coming soon.

I am currently reading A Deepness in the Sky by Vernor Vinge.  I am enjoying it and will be buying the rest of Mr. Vinge's works as I can. I am almost finished, I have about three hundred pages left to go.  I can say that reading this book and reading The Hot Gate at the same time, caused me to have some very interesting dreams.  Fighting armored spiders in tunnels in zero gravity.  Very interesting dreams. 

When I finish A Deepness in the Sky, I plan on reading The Amazon Legion by Tom Kratman, the fourth book in the Legion del Cid or Terra Nova or Carrera's Legions novels.  Another wonderful series brought to you by Baen.  I am a bit disappointed as there are no negative reviews on Amazon.  Perhaps the Colonel's writing has finally exploded some heads?

Let's talk movies now.  I saw Thor on it's release day and enjoyed it.  I never read any of the comics, so this movie is the first I have ever been exposed to the comic book character.  I did not understand the extra bit at the end of the credits though.  Guess I will have to wait for the Avengers movie to know what that was all about.  Next up this summer is the Captain America movie which looks like it is going to be awesome.  I can't wait for that.

I also watched the movie Salt.  It was actually pretty good.  It gave me a couple of twists that I was not expecting and the ending is not what I thought it would be. 

Another I watched was Toy Story 3.  It was much more adult themed than the other in my opinion.  It would still appeal to children, but there were more adult themes through out.  I can say that the ending actually made me tear up.  First time that has happened in a very long time with a movie.

I also watched the movie Monsters today.  Space probe crashes in Mexico, the probe has alien life forms on it.  They breed and a large part of Mexico is turned into a quarantine zone up to the American border.  It was actually an okay movie.  I would probably buy a copy to keep and maybe watch again in six or eight months.

 The Foo Fighters released a new album entitled Wasting Light.  I think it is one of the best albums to be released in a very long time.  I have listened to it almost twenty times by now and I am not sick of it yet.  They actually used one of the songs in the movie Thor.  It plays when the credits roll.  So yes, you should go out and buy the album and play it and love it and enjoy it.

I don't get it....

To start, about a year and a half ago, I moved into a house with both my parents, my sister, her fiance and his two young children and my other sister. Things have been fine for the most part up until recently. Now my sister and her fiance have started acting like assholes basically. Hiding toilet paper, laundry soap, towels in their room. It is ridiculous that they do this. I pay my portion of the bills, I buy food and other necessities, where the hell does she come off doing this?  In all reality I should pay less rent and other bills because I am only one person and they are four.  Yet I found out that they do not even pay their portion of the rent in full. 

I just don't understand how she can be like this.  She was not raised this way.  Me and my other sister are not like this.  I don't buy necessities just for myself and hide them from others.  So what if she is always washing the towels.  I use one towel and a wash rag for usually about a week at a time.  They use many more than that.  Why should I wash and fold the towels?  She stays at home all day doing nothing, hardly even keeps the house clean.  I don't know.  I just don't understand why she acts like that.

I keep quiet but it is hard because it really pisses me off and I want to call her on it.  She also treats our younger sister with malice that is unnecessary.  Just a few more months and we will be moving out.  It is what it is, hopefully she will see the error of her ways.

I don't know

I seem to live in a state of being tired. Sleep seems to elude me nightly. I deal with it. It is not fun being tired all the time but at least once every two weeks my body does decide it has had enough and I fall asleep very early and usually get about nine hours of sleep. Maybe if I were a healthier weight I would not have this sleep issue.

I am working on the weight issue. It is hard going though. So hard to break a lifetime of habits, even though I have done it before. I try to not make excuses about my laziness. I know what needs to be done, I just need a kick in my ass is all. I have goals, I just have no motivation.
There is a female at work that I am interested in. Besides the usual reason for attraction of course, I don't know why I feel attracted to her. Maybe it is the mischievous way she smiles sometimes, as though she knows something funny about everyone and is not telling. I do get a feeling that she may be attracted to me but I could be wrong, I've never been any good at reading signals. Probably best to just ignore it. No good can come to getting involved with someone you work with.

Speaking of work, I am a licensed Fire Alarm Technician in the State of Texas. Hopefully I will get at least a two dollar raise soon. That will help a little toward paying off some of my debt. My boss is cross training me for sprinkler inspection also. Printed out a few hundred pages that I need to study so eventually I can take the test to get my RME. Another license means more money. I was also be NICET Level Two in Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems. I will also start working on my NICET certifications in Fire Alarm. I have goals also. One day I will be able to support myself. I will be able to pay off my debt.

I have made decisions in my life that have led to this point, but at least I have learned from my mistakes, unlike many people of my generation. I need to buy some more boxes to finish packing the rest of my books and assorted things. I am looking forward to the move in a few months, even though I loathe moving. Nothing worse in the world than having to pack everything up and move to a new house. Oh well, at least things will be a bit quieter and a bit less tense. I think I will also be able to diet correctly and be able to start some food storage. I will continue to live with my parents until they are able to stand on their own once again.
